Jenna Hauck’s 14 Gold Photography Exhibition

Last week I went to a pretty amazing exhibition is going on right now in Chilliwack.  Photojournalist Jenna Hauck was the one photographer from Black Press sent to the Vancouver Olympics in 2010, and she came back with some amazing images.  Right now there’s an exhibition called “14 Gold” with her best shots from the Olympics displayed at the Chilliwack Museum.  You can see the event page for 14 Gold  – Images from the 2010 Olympics over on Facebook for more details.

I went there with Bob Friesen, another photojournalist from the local paper.  We spent about an hour walking through the photos, which were fantastic.  Both of us are also volunteering for the BC Games in February, so looking critically at the language of the photos, how the light is working, which background was chosen, the angle or moment or motion that was chosen and why it worked (or didn’t) was incredibly educational.  We got to chat a bit with Jenna as well, which was a pleasure.

If you have a chance to check out the exhibition I really think you should.  Even as a non-photographer the images are gorgeous and made me go back in time 3 years to how damn proud I felt that Vancouver did in putting on the games.
